We are pleased to invite you to Istanbul, Turkey, for the 9^th International Fructan Symposium to be held on October 10-13, 2022. Following the successful launch of IFS back in 1988 in Germany, fructan researchers gathered every four years at different parts of the world and after drinking guinness in Aberystwyth, smelling the ‘fructan prairies’ of Salt Lake City, looking for the Edelweiss in the alps, chasing Hemingway in Havana, tossing sake in Saporro, crossing the tides to Mont Saint Michel and climbing Monte Alban in Oaxaca, now  this ninth edition will give a chance to follow Alphonse de Lamartine and embrace the magical Istanbul, at the crossroad of two continents and different cultures. The IFS2022 motto is “Fructans for Life”, reflecting our ambition to translate fundamental fructan research into concrete changes towards a better life for the people.
